Why camping is good for your health

There is nothing that beats packing the tent, kids and dog into the car, hitting the open road and finding a spot to camp, explore and enjoy Australia.

Camping and getting off the grid can be great for your health too. If you are a camper you will enjoy many health benefits.

Fresh air

This one is a given, but getting outside can do wonders for our health, and when you spend time near trees you take on more oxygen to keep you healthy.

Research has shown that time outside in fresh air can reduce blood pressure, improve digestion and help manage stress too.

Most people in the modern world we are living in are dealing with various levels of stress, but many of us are operating at heightened levels of stress for often long periods.

Camping can help alleviate some of those stress levels; You might be more disconnected with limited internet, no alarm clock going off and the peacefulness of nature.

All of these benefits help manage stress and decrease stress hormone levels in the body.

Socialisation

Often, we can get stuck in our own little worlds where we see the same colleagues, family members most days as we tread the same life patterns day to day.

When you are staying in a campground, you will often meet new people as your kids play together, or you wait to use the BBQ.

Meeting new people from different walks of life, locations and with a different outlook can be refreshing and talking and connecting with people is good for your health.

Exercise

When we are out camping, we are often more likely to get out and about more and see the local area we are camping at.

We can hike, run or walk the local area and take in the sites. The adventure is yours if you choose to take it.

And I’m sure we don’t need to tell you that exercise is good for your health, it gets the blood pumping and improves your mood as well.

Sunshine

Getting a good dose of vitamin D can be a great mood booster and can be useful for your overall health and immune system as well.

And well, sunshine just makes you feel good too.
